This piece has traveled a curious journey to arrive where it is today. Back in 2013, I was taking an online class in using Twinks H2O watercolor paints and Yupo paper. I began this piece and couldn't get it to go anywhere, so I flipped the Yupo over and began another drawing on the other side. I was never really happy with that piece either but I did reach some sort of completion. Recently, while going through one of my portfolios and I came upon the two-sided reject. I had actually forgotten about this side. I set about to try one last time to resurrect this side of the Yupo . . . I'm not quite sure how I feel about the result . . . It's definitely "out there" in terms of color vibrancy and intensity . . . The design is completely erratic . . . There are different colors of glitter all over the place . . . but in a very strange way, I finally have a sense of satisfaction about my creation.
I would describe myself as a Writer, Artist and Creative Catalyst. I'm a mother, mother-in-law and grandmother of the greatest joy in my life, my 11 year old granddaughter Jaylynn. I painted for the first time about 20 years ago. Before that I had never done any type of art in my entire life. I never had any training. Then one day, I just picked up a brush and my Creative Spirit started to flow ... Whenever I make Art, I know I am being Guided ... The result is always a colorful expression of feelings ... Most of the time, they're full of whimsy, playfulness, innocence and joy. But sometimes not. For many years, I've dealt with the darkness and despondency of depression.
