Artist's Description

The Parc Monceau in Paris so enticed Monet that he used it as the subject of no less than 5 paintings.

It was originally designed for the private use in the 1770s. It became a public park and was restored in an informal style in the 1860s.

The large unclipped flowering shrub in the foreground of Monet’s painting is a perfect example of the unrestricted, more relaxed design found in the late 19th century.
